Feeling a bit Lovecrafty

Avignon, it’s been good. I’m not gonna lie, your theater festival brings a lot of real weirdos out. But it’s all good, I can deal with it. I’ll be sad to see you go, with your break dancers and your michael jackson impersonators, your puppeteers and your penis monologues.

See you next year maybe?

That’s it!

More dog stuff

When the not-so-little dogs pass out on the couch, on the floor, in the grass. Sometimes I like to attempt a quick contour. Literally it’s only about a minute or two, so don’t expect too much.

This one is Flamelily, or Lily. If there is any trouble to be made, she will find the way to make it. Living with a pack of dogs gives her the luxury of being the youngest dog, and not having to grow up, since her pack will take care of her.

She’s a bit of a pain, really. But still a pretty great little lady.

After a short, or not so short, period of skiving on French, I have come to the conclusion that if I don’t want to get flayed by my teacher, I’d better actually study. French being a lot like english, it’s rather ridiculous. Who thought up the concept of plurals? I’m shocked, really. Plurals, masculine and feminine articles and the spelling and grammar. Ugh.

No really, other than that, it’s perfect.

Hmmmmmm. Well, it’s a start, anyway.

Oh how shameless I am. I am a huge fan of TF2, I can’t help it.

So it follows that when I get bored, sometimes I doodle crap like this.

Yeah, so. Being away in Franchland has made me miss silly things like my Playstation, English TV, a good mac and cheese.

But it’s okay, because everything else pretty much makes up for that. This is the last week of the Avignon theater festival. I will not waste it!

Stuff… you know.

So. That was unfortunate. For this blog at least, not for me, because I ended up in Monaco, came back and recuperated, then shuffled off to Paris.

Nice times. Here is a little sketchbook page.

I apologize for the fact that I have a good camera, but bad lighting that I never fix.

Well, got sick briefly, thanks to something I ate, but there will be something new today or tomorrow!

It’s not a sketch, it’s an excuse!

Exactly, it is totally an excuse. But it’s a good one, because the care and feeding of Ridgebacks is part of the daily life here, as well as drawing and photographing drawings. And all that.

I, of course, would never blow off a blog post to go swimming. Never.

I don’t have much to say today. Got out in the sun, in the water, feels good.

Cold smokers, cold Russians

I remembered what that model’s name was! It was definitely Jim. I feel an enormous sense of accomplishment now. Heh.

Well anyway. I used to see three guys back in Cleveland who would go outside of the college to have a smoke. They all had those little Russian hats with the flaps, and looked cold.

It must be terrible to be a smoker in the winter, all huddled up.

The headless layabout

Today we have headless man! I feel terrible, because I can’t remember his name for the life of me, even though we had him all the time when I was doing life drawing.

Obviously, I didn’t really do anything with his head. I hate how chunky charcoal is sometimes when you get to little things like the face. Even if you address it as shapes, they’re still too much sometimes.

I’m a little lazy about things like that. But the face is one of my favorite things to draw.

One of these days I’ll dig out some doodles that happen every day. Then I’ll probably bury my head in the sand from embarrassment later. That’s life, isn’t it?
